 NO BOOK LEFT UNREAD
2009 Reading Summer Program
Students and staff members of Latta Early Childhood Center plan to read, read, read this summer. Join us as we see how many pages we can read over the summer break! PARENTS are invited to join us in this venture!
Students will be given reading logs to keep up with the number of pages/books read this summer. Return the sheets to Ms. McKenzie at the beginning of the new school year, 2009-2010. The number of pages read will be totaled and sent to the state department for a chance for our school to WIN the MOST PAGES READ. The contest begins June 1st. Barnes & Nobles Summer Reading Program
Here's how it works:
1. Kids read any eight (8) books of their own choosing.
2. Kids use the Summer Reading Journal to tell us their favorite part of each book. A parent/guardian signs the journal when it's complete. You can also get a Spanish-language Reading Journal.
3. Children bring their completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 26th & September 7th, 2009.
4. We'll give them a coupon for a FREE book! They choose from a list of exceptional paperback titles.*
* Eligible books will be listed on the coupon. Choices must be made from available stock. No special orders. Limit of one (1) form per school-age child (grades 1-6), please. Incomplete forms will be ineligible for free books.

Prinipal's Message
Welcome to the Latta Early Childhood Center web site. We are excited about beginning a new school year. Our plan is to meet student needs through carefully planned classroom and daily small group instruction. We look forward to a successful and productive year. We encourage all parents to become involved in your childs education. Parents can go online at any time and check your childs homework assignments and calendar of events for the week. We also ask that parents attend PTO meetings, parent conferences, and other special events at school. Your child will have a planner to write down daily assignments. Please look at this every afternoon and discuss the days events with your child. We encourage you to contact us at any time if you have questions or concerns. If you would like to talk to your childs teacher, please notify the office and we will be happy to set up a conference. The teachers are available to talk to parents from 2:15 to 3:15. We look forward to a great school year filled with many success stories and accomplishments. Thank you for your continued support.
